Regulatory Information

What Blockwyse does, what it does not do, and why that distinction is deliberate.

Our status

Blockwyse is a technology, engineering and research firm. It is not authorised or regulated by any financial supervisory authority, and it does not hold, and does not seek to hold, any authorisation as a crypto-asset service provider, investment firm or credit institution.

Nothing on this website should be read as a claim that Blockwyse is regulated, licensed or authorised, or as suggesting that it provides any service reserved to authorised persons.

Services we do not provide

Blockwyse does not provide any crypto-asset service. In particular, and without limitation, it does not:

  • provide custody or administration of crypto-assets on behalf of clients, and does not hold private keys or any other means of access to a client's crypto-assets
  • operate a trading platform for crypto-assets, or any system bringing together third-party buying and selling interests
  • exchange crypto-assets for funds or for other crypto-assets
  • execute orders for crypto-assets on behalf of clients
  • place crypto-assets, or market crypto-assets to purchasers on behalf of or for the account of an offeror
  • receive or transmit orders for crypto-assets on behalf of clients
  • provide advice on crypto-assets, or any personal recommendation in respect of a transaction in crypto-assets or the use of a crypto-asset service
  • provide portfolio management of crypto-assets, or exercise any discretion over client assets
  • provide transfer services for crypto-assets on behalf of clients

What we do instead

We design, build, integrate and support software; we produce analytical work on markets, protocols and technology; and we work with institutions on the business, operating-model and technology questions raised by their own digital asset activities.

Our clients operate the systems we build, under their own licences, in their own names and with their own controls. Where an activity described on this site is a regulated one, it is performed by our client or by a third party under that party's own authorisation, and never by Blockwyse.

Our research

Research published on this website is general in nature, is addressed to an undifferentiated audience, and is not tailored to the circumstances, objectives or holdings of any reader. It is not a recommendation to acquire, dispose of or hold any crypto-asset, it does not contain price targets or directional calls, and it must not be relied upon as the basis for any transaction.

We do not accept payment, in any form, to publish coverage of any asset, protocol, venue or provider.

Legal and regulatory matters

Blockwyse does not provide legal or regulatory advice and is not a law firm. Where our work touches on regulatory requirements, it addresses their technology and operating-model consequences, and we work alongside our clients' own legal advisers, who remain responsible for advising on the requirements themselves.

Independence

We do not accept referral fees, rebates, commissions or any other inducement from providers of crypto-asset services or technology. Where our work supports a client's procurement or build-versus-buy decision, we supply the evaluation criteria, the analysis and the scoring; the decision is made and recorded by the client.

No offer or solicitation

Nothing on this website constitutes an offer, solicitation or invitation to buy or sell any crypto-asset or financial instrument, or to use any crypto-asset service.
